When My Strength Runs Out
Written by Emma Parker

We don’t have to hide our weaknesses from God.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9

There was a song I used to love when I was young, called “His Strength is Perfect,” that referenced this verse. As a little girl, I got the idea and understood the meaning, but it wasn’t until I was at the end of my own strength that it became real – alive and living. I remember some of the hardest times I’ve walked through and the fact that there is no explanation that I even made it to the other side, except by the grace and strength of God.

There is POWER when we surrender our pain, our weaknesses, our desires, our disappointments, and our need to control, to the Lord and allow Him to move. When we are weak, He is strong. It’s easy to say, but often no easy task when the rubber meets the road.

We don’t have to hide our weaknesses. When we approach Him with humble hearts, admitting that we don’t have all the answers, we open the door for His perfect strength to minister in our hearts and lives. He doesn’t meet us with disappointment or condemnation. No, He waits with open arms, ready to show us His glory.

Are you going through a hard time? Are you exhausted from trying to carry it all on your own? In Matthew 11:30, Jesus says, “My yoke is easy. My burden is light.” Invite him to sit with you. Unclench your fists, open your hands, and surrender all of it to our Lord. He will take care of you and whatever you are going through. In this act of surrender, your faith will grow in ways you haven’t expected before.

In your weakness, you will be made strong.
