Everyday Serving Opportunities
EVERYONE can serve, and opportunities to bless people are everywhere if you look for them. You never know how much a small act of kindness might change someone’s day! Here are some ideas to get you started.
Acts of Service
- Help an elderly person put up/take down their Christmas decorations
- Clean up leaves in yards
- Volunteer, as a family, to babysit for a couple with small children so that they can go out on a date
- Help a single mom wrap presents
- Wheel in your neighbor’s garbage can for them
- Bring a meal to a special needs family you know
- Make a meal for someone in need
- Open your home to someone who is lonely
Encouragement & Appreciation
- Call or write a note to an elderly person in the church
- Write a thank-you card for a teacher or someone who has made a positive impact
- Write a note of appreciation for your child’s Little Town/Kids Town teacher
- Make gift baskets for teachers
Giving & Blessing Others
- Pay for someone’s meal, groceries, or gas
- Tip a waitress extra and write a kind message on the receipt
- Let someone go in front of you in line
- Compliment 10 people you see at the store
- Tell a friend why you love them
- Give an overdue apology
Community Outreach / Service Projects
- Go caroling at a nursing home
- Host a hot cocoa stand to raise money for a nonprofit
